Who am I

In contemplating a conception in order that I may summarize my personal philosophy, there is no other in which I would rather identify with than with the idea of Wanderlust.  This is the idea that all is achievable; all things are able to be experienced, so long as one is discovering a secret path, finds themselves in a strange and foreign land or is sitting in a mysterious place taking note of there surroundings.  It is willing to find strength in a place or time of utter weakness.  It is to me the search for personal truth by being courageous enough to being completely receptive to the outside environment in which we find ourselves.  The romanticism of the moment of personal illumination by a person, place, or situation is that which I desire to strive for.

Thus far, I have been privileged enough to record some of those instances in which I have encountered during my short travels upon this earth.  I consider all that we experience in this finite life to be precious and therefore to be cherished as a passing breath lost in time.  It is a most extraordinary thing to be mortal.  There are those who would search and long for immortality by means of either religion, fame, or fortune.  I on the contrary believe that there is a holiness, a sanctity, a silent prayer to each fleeting second which falls by the wayside.  It is dear because it is lost to eternity.  As we grow, develop, and finally succumb to natural forces we have had crossed paths with countless souls unified by a common journey, a common end result.  Whether deemed saint or devil we are all in need simply, to love and to be loved.

These facets of our lives can either have a positive or negative influence upon us.  I have been touched by deep and tender love and passion in my life.  I have likewise been tortured by heart-rending sorrow and personal tragedy unable to conceive of a solution.  However, whether in celebration of triumph and glory or in the deepest inferno of hell, I have been and am honest with my work.  That has been and always will be the task of an artist, to discover a personal truth and to record it for personal enlightenment.  My works are therefore not necessarily unified by a particular theme or notion which one may search in vain for.  Each painting reflects profoundly a moment in my life, which has affected my spirit in either a positive or in a negative light.  Whether it be the beauty of nature, or a particular face and gesture, I have interpreted these exterior environments and translated them into a fathomable interior and personal vision.

It is my cherished wish for you to find a beauty in my paintings as I have found a beauty in all of you whom I have come across in a candle lit café or upon a secret path to nowhere.
